Accounting Clerk

The basic function of an Accounting Clerk is to provide accounting and clerical assistance to the accounting department.

Worksite Location: Harvey, Louisiana.

Stewart Construction, LLC provides a wide variety of industrial and marine construction services, including the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of docks, wharfs, pilings, dolphins, fender systems, coffer dams, intake and outtake systems, ship and barge material handling systems, and other, similar systems and structures, as well as demolition and removal services.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 18+ years of age.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must pass a drug-screen.
• Must pass a background investigation.
• Must pass a fit-for-duty examination.
• High school diploma (or equivalent).
• 3+ years of experience in private or public accounting.
• 3+ years of experience in accounts payable or accounts receivable.
• 3+ years of experience processing payroll.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field of study.
• Experience in the construction industry.

Essential Functions:

• Process weekly payroll.
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Perform general accounting duties-- journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, tax preparation, etc.
• Prepare and create invoices and track accounts.
• Process invoices to ensure timely payments to venders, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Add and balance billing vouchers.
• Ensure account data is complete and accurate.
• Code documents according to company procedures.
• Check figures, postings, and documents to ensure that they are accurate and properly coded.
• Record transactions and post debits and credits.
• Use bookkeeping software, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Enter financial transactions into the appropriate computer software.
• Put costs and income into the software, assigning each to an appropriate account.
• Produce reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and totals by account.
• Check for accuracy in figures, postings, and reports.
• Reconcile and report any differences in the records.
• Participate in the transition from one accounting system into another.
• Other duties as assigned.
