Job Objective Under the direction of the Section Supervisor, Assistant Director and Director of Radiology Services, Radiology Technologist II performs a wide variety of radiographic procedures and complex duties requiring a high degree of accuracy with latitude for independent initiative and judgment. Promotes, follows and adheres to the values set by AVH. Provides technical assistance in planning, organizing and controlling the workflow to accomplish the objectives of the department. Delivers quality customer services that meet or exceed expectations to patients, physicians, physician office staff, and visitors. Brief Description The role involves performing radiographic examinations using proper technique, positioning patients safely, preparing rooms and equipment, and maintaining observation during exams. Duties and Responsibilities Stand on feet 95% of the time and physically able to assist in lifting patients up to 200+ pounds from stretchers or wheelchairs to the x‑ray table. Perform frequent lifting, bending, stooping, walking, pushing and pulling throughout the shift. Prepare room, equipment and materials for radiographic examinations. Courtly greet and identify patients, escort them to and from the exam room. Prepare patient for exam and discuss procedure details. Perform radiographic examinations and procedures using proper technique. Position patient safely and properly for the exam. Assist patient before, during and after the procedure as needed, prepare contrast material when required. Maintain observation of patient and equipment for duration of exam, staying within department’s repeat‑rate standard. Follow radiation‑protection guidelines for patients and staff while maintaining image quality. Qualified to perform radiographic procedures in the OR, ER, nursing floors, portable procedures, and within the department. Willing to work in any area and flexible to meet departmental needs. Evaluate radiographs for good quality. Use effective technical and patient‑care skills. Follow proper work methods with injured patients. Demonstrate knowledge of special‑needs and behaviors of age‑specific groups. Participate in age‑specific educational training programs. Demonstrate proficiency in required age‑specific competencies. Non‑Essential Duties Transfer patients to and from Radiology as necessary. Schedule exams as necessary. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Prepare rooms, equipment and materials for examinations. Follow radiation‑protection guidelines. Knowledge of quality control and troubleshooting equipment. Qualified to perform radiographic procedures in the OR, ER, nursing floors, portable procedures and within the department. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Perform duties in a normal hospital radiology department environment. Work in areas with high noise levels, cool temperatures, dim lighting and radiation exposure. Frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling and lifting related to patient care. Handle patients. Occasional lifting of 10–25 lbs and pushing/pulling of 21–35 lbs. A detailed description of the physical requirements of this job is maintained in the Employee Health Department. Requirements Education High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduated from ARRT Accredited Radiological Technology Program. Experience 2 years of hospital setting experience preferred. Required Licensure and/or Certifications CRT State of California.
