RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administer and oversee prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing standards. Responsible for security of medications. Conduct sick call each morning. Prepare equipment and aid Physician, Psychiatrist or Psychologist during treatment, examination and evaluation of residents. Maintain comfort and safety needs of residents. Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of resident. Respond to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures and protocol. Coordinate medication inventories with pharmacy on a scheduled basis. May transport residents to medical appointments. Schedule all medical, dental, eye appointments and follow-ups as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Currently licensed in South Dakota as an RN. Must hold a minimum of an associate’s degree, and one year experience in nursing. Must be knowledgeable of Title 19, Indian Health and insurance management systems. Requires a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one with approved driver status. Must be at least 21 years old and able to complete orientation training according to agency program standards. Must successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks for criminal convictions, behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.
