NC Water Business Group Construction Services Business Class Lead

HDR is looking for a Construction Services Business Class Lead to join our North Carolina Water Business Group at either our Charlotte, Raleigh, or Winston‑Salem office. The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of progressive experience administering and overseeing construction projects. Primary Responsibilities Oversee the delivery of individual and portfolio construction projects for our growing municipal water business, coordinating directly with project, design, and client management teams. Lead the Construction Services team, including Project Managers, Resident Project Representatives, and Administrative Support. Demonstrate authority, strong communication, self‑starter attitude, organization, detail orientation, problem‑solving, and teamwork. Partner with design teams and technical staff during construction to implement designs successfully, coordinating submittal review, RFI response, change and field order documentation, claim resolution, and daily contractor coordination. Maintain continuous contact with clients and contractors on ongoing construction projects. Perform occasional field inspection and frequent on‑site visits to active construction sites. This position is subject to a pre‑employment drug test. Preferred Qualifications 10 years of experience managing a team. 15 years of experience in a construction‑related field. Experience with construction management software packages and Microsoft Office Suite, Prolog, Primavera, and related programs. Excellent communication, leadership, and planning skills; strong ability to work with contractors and administer the overall construction process. Ability to handle multiple assignments. Good leadership and organizational skills. Hands‑on experience with construction documentation. Local candidates preferred. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering, or closely related field. 10 years of experience. Commitment to quality, improvement, and HDR values. Professional or engineering registration with related technical experience. Experience in development and management of diverse teams. Cooperative collaboration with other business class leaders, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers. Active participation in our employee‑owned culture is a must.
