R&D Project Manager

About the Role JOBY is looking for an R&D Project Manager to lead the execution of new product development across global teams. Based in our Monrovia, CA facility, you will work closely with design, engineering, and operations — ensuring projects move from concept to mass production on time, on budget, and at the highest quality. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in cross-functional environments, brings structure to ambiguity, and knows how to turn ideas into shipped products. What You’ll Do Own end-to-end project execution for new product development — from concept through mass production Build and manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables across ID, ME, EE, and operations teams Coordinate cross-functional teams across the U.S. and Asia to ensure alignment and execution Identify risks early and proactively drive solutions to keep projects on track Lead regular project reviews, status updates, and executive reporting Work closely with sourcing and manufacturing partners to ensure DFM readiness and production scalability Drive cost, quality, and schedule trade-offs to meet business targets Support product validation, testing, and launch readiness Establish and improve internal R&D processes and workflows What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Product Development, or related field 5+ years of experience in hardware product development or R&D project management Proven track record of launching consumer products from concept to mass production Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, manufacturing, and supply chain Experience working with cross-functional and international teams (U.S. + Asia preferred) Excellent project management skills (timeline, risk management, prioritization) Strong communication skills — able to align teams and influence stakeholders Hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset with high ownership Nice to Have Experience in consumer electronics, camera gear, or accessories Exposure to DFM, tooling, and manufacturing processes Background working with China‑based suppliers What We Offer Competitive salary + performance bonuses Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Flexible, unlimited PTO Relocation assistance Employee discount Career growth in a global brand — with real ownership from day one The opportunity to build products used by millions of creators worldwide Job Details Job Type: Full-time Location: Monrovia, CA 91016 Work Location: In person #J-18808-Ljbffr Joby, Inc.
