Utility Worker

A water utility company in Southwest Pensacola, Florida needs a full-time Utility Worker to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking forsteady, full-time workwith a company that looks after its employees and has potential progression routes for the right people .

Job responsibilities:

• Hand excavation of trenches for repair and/or installation of new mains and service lines
• Use of assigned tools and construction equipment
• Lifting heavy objects such as cast-iron pipe, fittings, and chemical containers
• Replacing meters and meter box lids and correcting misaligned meter boxes
• Operating portable data loggers and portable computers for meter reading
• Completing routine service orders and interacting professionally with customers and coworkers
• Reporting system abnormalities such as leaks, faulty meters, illegal connections, or unusual consumption
• Performing normal maintenance work such as cutting grass around meter boxes and painting fire hydrants according to color codes

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Must be able to read, write legibly, and perform basic mathematical calculations
• Must be computer literate and able to operate portable, handheld, and network computer devices
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must possess a valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License

• Able to work a physically demanding job
• Able to work in various outside weather conditions
• A great listener with a positive, can-do attitude
• Commitment to always working safely

Compensation and Benefits:

• Starting wage of $18.00 per hour
• Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
• Contract to Hire position
• After meeting the qualification requirements, employees are offered through Landrum: Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance and matching 401k
