Job Opportunity – Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant / Acute Care Nurse Practitioner – Arizona

Schedule: 4 days per month, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM plus call coverage 3:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Highlights:

• Manage 10-15 CVICU and step-down patients daily, plus assist with 1-2 surgical cases
• Adult and geriatric patient population in a 199-bed hospital setting
• Perform specialized procedures including temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, IABP removal, and arterial line placement
• Work collaboratively with cardiothoracic surgeons in a dynamic surgical environment
• Cerner EMR system with remote training provided prior to start date
• Credentialing timeframe of approximately 30 days

Requirements:

For Physician Assistants:

• Graduate from a university program approved by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• Certified or certification eligible by NCCPA
• Current or eligible for Arizona Physician Assistant license
• Minimum 3 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery with proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
• Board Certification as PA required
• ACLS and BLS (American Heart Association) certification required
• DEA license required

For Nurse Practitioners:

• Master's Degree in Nursing from an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program
• Completion of a RN/NP First Assistant Program
• Current unrestricted Arizona APRN license
• Medical Surgical or NP ANCC or AANP Certification
• Minimum 3 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery with proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
• ACLS and BLS (American Heart Association) certification required
• DEA license required

Additional Requirements:

• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Influenza vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Recent cardiothoracic surgery experience with consistent case logs within the last 12 months
