Job Description

Job Summary:
Processes and sterilizes surgical and hospital instruments and equipment, ensuring their readiness for patient procedures. Assists with instrument assembly, disinfection, and maintenance to support clinical operations.

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminates and processes surgical instruments, including assembling instrument sets and trays.
• Sterilizes instruments, trays, and basins using appropriate exposure and dry times.
• Prepares instruments for immediate use sterilization when necessary.
• Maintains cleanliness of the department environment by daily cleaning of surfaces and sterilizer equipment.
• Performs weekly cleaning of autoclave chambers and monitors sterilization cycle performance.
• Assists with supply and instrument preparation for upcoming procedures and case picks.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician required.
• Experience with sterilization equipment, biological testing, and instrument processing preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to evaluate instrument safety and functionality.
• Ability to work under direct supervision and as part of a healthcare team.
