Shop Helper

This role supports a busy machine shop by assisting with assembly, finishing, and general shop tasks on aluminum and stainless steel components. You will work primarily in the assembly and finishing department, performing repetitive but precise bench work to help ensure parts meet quality standards and are ready for shipment.

• Work in the assembly and finishing department to install small 1/8-inch pins into small holes using a dedicated machine in a repetitive, bench-style assembly process.
• Use a variety of hand tools and shop tools to assist with finishing and assembly of aluminum and stainless steel parts.
• Apply graining techniques to finish metals by brushing aluminum and ensuring all grains run in the same direction.
• Straighten aluminum parts and verify they meet dimensional tolerances within plus or minus thousandths of an inch.
• Use honing techniques to put a smooth, consistent finish on aluminum parts according to specifications.
• Insert stainless steel threaded components into aluminum blocks with accuracy and care.
• Place metal parts into a tumbler to achieve a smooth, deburred finish.
• Assist with deburring tasks as needed, removing sharp edges and imperfections from machined parts.
• Follow instructions and training to properly finish machined parts to required quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop policies.
• Support general labor and shop helper tasks, including handling materials and assisting production as needed.
• Contribute to a positive team environment by maintaining reliable attendance and communicating effectively with coworkers and supervisors.

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools and machinery.
• Ability to use basic hand tools safely and effectively in a shop environment.
• Strong attention to detail when performing repetitive assembly and finishing tasks.
• Willingness to learn and follow proper techniques for finishing machined parts, including graining, honing, and deburring.
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds safely as part of daily duties.
• Positive attendance track record and reliability in reporting to scheduled shifts.
• Comfort working as a general laborer or shop helper in a manufacturing or machine shop setting.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to safety procedures.

• Finishing or deburring experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment is a plus, but not required as training is provided.
• Prior experience as a shop helper, general laborer, or in assembly or production environments.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes involving aluminum and stainless steel materials.
• Experience using hand tools for assembly, production, and general labor tasks.
• Interest in developing skills in machining, metal finishing, and related trades.

This position is based in a machine shop environment operating on a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with potential variation to 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Mandatory overtime may be required when production needs increase. The facility houses approximately 20 CNC machines, with around 13 employees working on the shop floor and about 20 employees in total. It functions as a job shop capable of handling a wide variety of work, offering exposure to different parts, processes, and tools. You will work around machining, finishing, and tumbling equipment and should be comfortable in an active, industrial setting that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Souderton, PA.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Souderton,PA.
