General Surgery Physician Requirements

• Board certification in General Surgery is required
• At least 1 year of general surgery experience
• Current, unrestricted physician license eligible for practice in Missouri
• Current ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
• Demonstrated proficiency in a broad range of general surgical procedures
• Ability to evaluate and treat adult and pediatric patients; neonatal and trauma surgery experience is preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to safe, high-quality patient care

General Surgeon Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive general surgical evaluation and treatment for approximately 6–8 patients per shift
• Perform laparoscopic surgery procedures, including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, and Nissen fundoplication
• Perform or support breast, head and neck, chest wall, pleural, liver, vascular, plastic, and minor orthopedic procedures as appropriate to training and privileges
• Provide gastrointestinal endoscopy services, including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and sigmoidoscopy, as qualified
• Perform cesarean sections, D&C procedures, hysterectomies, and other obstetric or gynecologic surgical procedures as appropriate
• Manage perioperative and acute surgical care, including ventilation management, chest tube insertion, central line placement, and vascular access procedures
• Collaborate with nursing, anesthesia, emergency, and other clinical teams to coordinate timely patient care
• Support pediatric surgical care, including complex congenital procedures, for physicians with applicable pediatric surgery training
