Journeyman Lineman

Overhead Lineman 1st ClassOverhead 1st class is an experienced position in the construction and maintenance of electrical overhead distribution systems. You will work at multiple locations and may also require travel to another state, depending on customer demands.Key Responsibilities:Lead crew members in the absence of the Foreman.Strings overhead wire.Set poles and anchors.Install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.Troubleshoot trouble in primary and secondary systems.Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems.Frequently work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others.Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.Perform rigorous physical labor.Can identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.Must be familiar with induced voltage.Understand grounding procedures.Work at heights or confined spaces.Install and remove PPE and cover up.Must be able to climb different types of structures (wood, steel) and have the necessary tools to do so.Must understand how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.Plan safe work based on a job print or work order.Understand how to obtain a one shot on a recloser.Can conduct a pre-job or tailgate briefing.Can safely perform a reconductoring job.Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers.Understand how to use a load bust tool.Does all other related work to complete the job.Can work outside, frequently in inclement weather conditions.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the responsibilities of this job, you talk or hear. Frequently, the job requires you to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms.Work Environment:While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.
