Manager Payroll Operations (US & Canada)

Intuitive Surgical seeks a Manager of Payroll Operations to lead end-to-end payroll processing for over 9,000 U.S. and Canadian employees. The role oversees team management, regulatory compliance, payroll system governance, and strategic initiatives while balancing operational execution with cross-functional partnership.

Responsibilities

• Direct all payroll operations including regular and off-cycle payrolls, new hires, terminations, and year-end processing
• Ensure accurate, timely payroll processing and compliance with federal, state, and provincial tax requirements
• Maintain strong internal controls, segregation of duties, and SOX compliance; support internal and external audits
• Lead payroll technology and process-improvement initiatives, including automation and AI opportunities
• Recruit, develop, and manage high-performing payroll team with clear goals and performance accountability

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years progressive payroll experience, at least 5 years leading payroll teams
• Deep knowledge of U.S. payroll tax, wage-and-hour, garnishments, reconciliation, and year-end reporting
• Experience managing large multi-state and Canadian payroll operations across multiple legal entities
• Proficiency with payroll systems including Workday and ADP Vantage
• Advanced analytical skills to interpret data, identify risk, and develop recommendations
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
• CPP or PCP certification preferred
