Compensation: $20/hr
Don’t Matter is looking for a reliable, experienced Cook to join our kitchen team Wednesday through Sunday.
Our kitchen is a small, hands-on operation and may be staffed by one cook for portions of service , so we’re looking for someone who is confident working independently, organized under pressure, and capable of taking ownership of the kitchen.
This position will work closely with and support our Lead Cook , coming in during our busiest evening hours, helping execute service, closing the kitchen properly, and setting the team up for the following day.
The RoleSupport the Lead Cook and overall kitchen operation
Independently execute the food menu during service when needed
Help manage the kitchen through busy evening and late-night periods
Maintain consistency, quality, speed, and presentation
Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and properly stocked throughout service
Assist with prep and mise en place
Take ownership of closing procedures and kitchen breakdown
Properly label, store, rotate, and secure food
Restock and complete necessary prep for the following day
Communicate inventory, prep needs, equipment issues, and product concerns to the Lead Cook
Ensure the kitchen is clean, stocked, organized, and ready for the next service
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and NYC DOH standards
Previous restaurant, bar, lounge, or high-volume kitchen experience
Comfortable operating a small kitchen independently
Strong cooking fundamentals and ability to execute multiple menu items efficiently
Able to stay organized and composed during busy service
Comfortable taking direction from and supporting the Lead Cook
Reliable, punctual, clean, and detail-oriented
Takes ownership and solves problems without needing constant supervision
Comfortable with late-night service and closing
Available Wednesday through Sunday, 7:00 PM through close
What Success Looks Like
You can confidently step into the kitchen during our busiest hours, support the Lead Cook, and run the kitchen independently when needed .
You help us finish service strong and leave the kitchen clean, stocked, prepped, and completely ready for the next day.
We’re looking for someone dependable who treats the kitchen like their own and takes pride in both the food going out and the condition of the kitchen at the end of the night.
