Are you ready to move the world forward?This position will be located in Building 108 - Soft Square, Small & Mid-size Pole departments.The Production Supervisor is a first-line supervisor with discipline and drive as essential behavioral traits. A driven individual that will be responsible for safety of all employees being supervised, demonstrates attributes that support first time product quality, exercises sound financial decision making / cost control methods, processing manufacturing steel poles and following planned schedule. This position supervises hourly production employees and interacts with admin as needed.This is an on-site professional exemption salaried positionStarting pay range Depending on Qualification (LG39): $76,800 - $95,500******There will be an increase to the starting base compensation rate to account for the shift being Graveyard (3rd) shiftEligible for annual discretionary bonusNight shift schedule: Sunday - Thursday starting at 10PMMinimum of 50 hours worked per week. Will occasionally be required to extend scheduled hours, including weekend coverage as needed for critical operational needs. Must be able to facilitate shift overlap with Day shift Supervisor and shift Leads.Expected attendance for off-shift meetings upon management request.Core Responsibilities:As a supervisor, the candidate should demonstrate active employee engagement by: Conducting effective every day "stand up-start up meetings". Start-up meetings are to be utilized to identify if all employees are "fit for duty" that day. An effective supervisor will conduct stretch and flex exercises as part of warming up for the work but also use it to identify if employees demonstrate motion concerns.Enforcing work hardening policy (Any new hires - direct hire or temps should be only scheduled for 40 hours / week for first 30 days without exceptions.The Supervisor will ensure that Valmont safety absolutes are not compromised at any time. In case of a safety infraction (near miss, first aid, recordable, LTI, property damage) supervisors will: Lead the investigation and demonstrate effective containment actions are in place for all employees to return to their work centers safely.Present root cause findings as well as countermeasures (short term as well as long term) to all employees as well as management.As a leader over production personnel and work area, Supervisor is to ensure that he / she demonstrates "first time quality – work attitude" by: Ensuring that any equipment issues are immediately reported.Own the root cause analysis of ANY rejected pole. Perform time sensitive fact finding to make sure repeat rejects (because of same issue) do not occur.Partner with Quality Supervisor in making sure the correct solution is in place and in case of performance issue from their employees, it is documented with HR.A successful supervisor is expected to effectively plan their work. Including (but not limited to): Daily task assignments. Supervisor is expected to have employee work assignments planed in advance.Planning daily schedule and report any schedule concerns.Essential Functions:Monitor employee's performance to ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed and adheredImplement and assign work schedules to maximize the utilization of manpower, machines, and equipmentDefine expected production standards, and monitor performance standards of direct reportsObserve personnel to ensure the proper operation of assigned work and equipmentEnsure inspection checks and quality assurance occurs to produce high quality productsPromote a continuous productivity improvement climate that encourages suggestions for operational improvementAdminister and support company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent mannerTrain new employees about divisional and organizational activities and safety policies and proceduresPrepares daily time sheets for hourly employees, production summaries, overtime and downtime reportsOther Important Details about the Role:This position reports to the Sr. Operations ManagerThis position will have approximately 25-30 direct reportsMust have thorough knowledge of the equipment and processes in the areasHold acquired knowledge of planning, organizing, controlling, coordinating, and directing manufacturing personnelPossess a high level of supervisory capability, which ensures leadership, and motivation of subordinates to attain high standards of quality and productivityReact to change in a timely and organized mannerEvaluate and weigh alternatives, establish appropriate priorities, and formulate sound decisions affecting all phases of the operationFoster harmonious relations within their shift and between shiftsAccountable for safety, product quality, exercising cost control, meeting production schedules, the proper uses of direct and indirect labor, accurate record-keeping and reporting, minimizing scrap and rework costs, training new and existing personnel, and communicating with other supervisory and management personnel as well as subordinatesFrequent use of computer terminals and personal computers to perform duties of their positionThorough knowledge and awareness of the safety issues related to each operation performed within the department, and must ensure that all employees adhere to safe practices at all timesUnderstanding of The Valmont Way theory of Lean Manufacturing principlesComputer Software: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and EHS Reporting System, ADP, Workday, Internet ExplorerRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):Bachelor's degree with 5+ years relevant experience or Associate's degree with 7+ years relevant experience or 9+ years of relevant experienceFive (5) years of experience in manufacturing or logistics/distribution environmentA strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft OutlookStrong leadership skills and the ability to support divisional business objectivesExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsRead and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manualsRecognize and solve practical problems and/or issuesCommunicate and interact with coworkers in
