RN Hospice Nurse

Job Summary:

The Hospice In-Patient Unit Registered Nurse provides compassionate, skilled nursing care to patients requiring intensive end-of-life support in a home-like facility. This role involves symptom management, comprehensive assessment, and critical thinking to address physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The nurse acts as a teacher and collaborator, helping patients and caregivers set and achieve personal goals of care. Strong clinical skills and at least two years of relevant nursing experience are essential. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care focused on symptom management and end-of-life support.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure holistic patient care.
• Educate patients and caregivers to empower confidence in care delivery.
• Support patients' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs during hospice care.
• Participate in ongoing communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
• Work within a home-like inpatient hospice setting to provide comfort and dignity.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of two years nursing experience in hospital, home health, or hospice care.
• Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning expertise.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field.
• Driver's license, car insurance, and reliable automobile for fieldwork as needed.

• Experience in hospice or palliative care settings.
• Strong critical thinking and symptom management skills.
• Comfort working in interdisciplinary teams and teaching roles.

Special Considerations:

• On-call requirement of 2 shifts per month.
• Orientation includes 3 days of daytime training (8am-5pm) before transitioning to night shifts.
• Work environment focuses on compassionate end-of-life care in a home-like inpatient hospice unit.

Scheduling:

• Full-time position with primarily night shifts following orientation.
• Shift assignments include scheduled on-call shifts as specified.
