In this highly visible role, candidates will be working in a dynamic environment, interfacing across multiple disciplines including system, power, software, and hardware engineers to develop innovative architectures that meet the requirements of Qualcomm growing product portfolio. Candidates will be able to gain exposure to the full product life cycle from pre-silicon to commercialization of Qualcomm chipsets.\n\n\u200b\n\nJob Responsibilities\n\nAs a Power and Limits software engineer, candidates will own or participate in one or more of the following:\n\n * Multiple aspects of software development - analyzing the requirements, designing robust software solutions, and ensuring that the power efficiency is met, for current and next generation chipsets to meet the growing product requirements on processors across various subsystems on the SoC\n * Perform detailed analysis of the existing software to provide innovative recommendations to improve performance, memory, and power utilization, including software optimizations, SW/HW partitioning, new algorithms etc.\n * Develop tools for silicon profiling, validation and debugging across all SOC components\n * Involvement in pre-silicon evaluations and sign-offs\n * Scope opportunities for HW acceleration by providing recommendations to the HW team\n\n\n\nPersonal Attributes / Soft Skills\n\n * Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with high expectations\n * Passionate for building great products, with a willingness to disrupt the status quo and push boundaries to deliver innovations that affect the experience of millions of end users\n * Strong analytic and problem solving skills \n * Excellent technical communication and interpersonal skills\n * Self-motivated and quick-learner\n * Meticulous attention to detail\n\n\n\nTechnical Domains\n\nProduct feature areas include, but are not limited to:\n\n * Developing firmware for memory and CPU constrained systems\n * Analyzing the execution efficiency of power software\n * Managing the performance/thermal efficiency tradeoffs\n * SOC level interactions between various software components\n * Machine learning on data sets spanning across generations of product architectures,\n * IoE/IoT sectors, and\n * Working with various HLOS (eg: Android) on application cores to meet end-to-end performance\n\n\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nMaster\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \n \n\u2022 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n7 years to 10 years of academic or industry experience in the following:\n\n * Computer Architecture (ARM architecture preferred)\n * Real Time Operating Systems\n * C/ASM programming\n * Debugging Real Time Embedded Systems using JTAG or equivalent\n * Compilers / Linkers\n * Python Scripting\n * Ability to read hardware programming guides and write drivers/software based on that information \n * Embedded software\n * Machine Learning\n * Agile development; Kanban\n * Version control systems such as Perforce/Git\n\n\n\nQualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
