Job Title: Machine Operator Job Description

As a Machine Operator, you will prepare and operate plasma and oxyfuel burning tables equipped with drill turrets to perform tasks such as cutting, drilling, and grinding. You will interpret specifications by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work orders, ensuring a seamless setup of materials before running the machine.

Responsibilities

• Operate plasma and oxyfuel burning tables with precision.

• Understand and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work orders.

• Perform material setups prior to machine operations.

• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions efficiently.

• Follow safety requirements and maintain necessary certifications.

• Inspect machinery and finished products for quality assurance.

• Perform daily maintenance on machinery.

• Handle materials safely and appropriately.

• Operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment as required.

• Lift up to 50 lbs and maintain physical fitness.

Essential Skills

• Experience with plasma table operation and/or oxy fuel cutting.

• Ability to run plasma and oxy-fuel CNC burn tables.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting prints.

• Skill in using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.

• Experience operating industrial CNC machines for heavy metal fabrication.

• Familiarity with overhead cranes is a plus.

• Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with plate processing and schematic interpretation.

• Knowledge of punch press, machine setup, and drill press operations.

• Experience in fabrication and use of bandsaw and hand torch for cutting.

• Ability to train on Day Shift: Mon-Thurs 4x10s 6:00am - 4:30pm.

• Willingness to work Swing Shift: Mon-Thurs 4x10s 4:30pm - 2:30am.

Work Environment

Work in a 180,000 sq ft single steel fabrication facility, one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest. The company is AISC certified to work on high-rise buildings, bridges, marine, and other structural steel projects. The facility holds an AISC Sophisticated Paint, Indoor endorsement QP3 (SPE) with extensive experience in applying surface treatments and paint. Employees are expected to adhere to safety standards and maintain professionalism in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tigard, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
