STATEMENT OF PURPOSE : The Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and appearance of agency facilities and grounds. This position performs a variety of building maintenance, repair, inspection, and facility support functions to ensure a safe, clean, functional, and welcoming environment for employees, clients, visitors, and stakeholders. The Maintenance Technician works independently and collaboratively to address facility needs while supporting the mission and values of the agency.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS : This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance and direction to volunteers, trainees, contractors, temporary staff, and summer youth program participants as assigned.

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Occasional local travel between agency locations and vendors may be required. Less than 15%.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :

• Perform routine building maintenance and repair tasks throughout agency facilities.

• Complete assigned preventive maintenance inspections and document findings.

• Respond to work orders and service requests in a timely and professional manner.

• Assist with troubleshooting and repairing basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical issues.

• Conduct routine inspections of building systems, equipment, and facility grounds to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.

• Perform minor repairs to doors, locks, hardware, furniture, fixtures, and building components.

• Assist with maintaining HVAC equipment through filter changes, inspections, and coordination of vendor service activities.

• Support facility improvement projects including painting, patching, assembly, installation, and general repairs.

• Assist with room setups, furniture moves, office relocations, and event support.

• Safely operate agency vehicles, hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.

• Assist with snow removal, ice control, and exterior grounds maintenance as needed.

• Monitor building conditions and report equipment failures, safety hazards, and maintenance concerns to the Building Manager.

• Assist contractors and vendors performing work within agency facilities.

• Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance tasks, inspections, and work orders.

• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering maintenance supplies, tools, and materials.

• Pick up materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors as needed.

• Support emergency response efforts and assist with facility-related incidents when required.

• Assist with securing the building at the end of the day, including ensuring designated areas are locked and facility standards are maintained.

• Perform routine custodial duties as needed, including trash removal, restroom upkeep, floor care, and maintaining cleanliness in common areas.

• Demonstrate a commitment to workplace safety and comply with all agency safety policies and procedures.

• Perform all duties with consideration and respect for individuals who are blind, visually impaired, deaf-blind, or have multiple disabilities.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Technical, vocational, or trade school training in building maintenance, facilities management, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related field preferred.

• Minimum of three (3) years of building maintenance, facilities, custodial, or related experience preferred.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.

• Working knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, custodial procedures, and safe equipment operation.

• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, custodial equipment, and basic maintenance technology.

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Dependable, organized, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, contractors, vendors, and visitors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and perform physical labor throughout the workday.

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, power tools, and agency vehicles.
