Posting Dates: 09/21/2026 to 09/28/2026 Location: Amarillo, TX Job Title: INF Maintenance Mechanic Carpenter Hiring Manager: Damon Manning # of Openings: 1 Organization: North Zone Maintenance (51075469) Hourly Pay Rate: 48.39 Seniority Group: Carpenter Essential Job Duties Performs general carpentry work involving, but not limited to, the erecting of wooden building frames, installing exterior and interior trim, laying floors, building concrete forms, pouring chutes, constructing wooden scaffolds, and similar work entailing the cutting, shaping, and fastening together of wood or material such as treated fiberboard that is substituted for wood. Fits and assembles prefabricated wooden sections; cuts, shapes, fits, and assembles wood sections according to directions given on blueprints and sketches; performs general carpentry duties such as sawing, planning, jointing, chiseling, gluing, fitting, and nailing. Installs, reworks and maintains all locks and locking mechanisms on buildings, classified repositories, desks, and files. Cuts, shapes, and installs metal studs and ceiling joists using tin snips, pop riveters, and stud guns. Cuts, shapes, and assembles Plexiglas assemblies by gluing and/or fastening together by screws. Assembles and sets metal and wood doors and door jambs. Must be proficient in reading prints and sketches. Maintains and installs acoustic ceilings, and grid panels. Ensures accurate and efficient replacement of parts, and makes repairs and/or adjustments to equipment, installations, and/or fixtures. Performs duties under the direction of line management. Responsible for maintaining accurate records. Must adhere to Safety, Fire, and Security regulations. Must be able to work alone or with others as the job requires. Responsible for the safe operation and proper care of materials, tools and equipment. Responsible for maintaining a knowledge of applicable Federal, State, Department of Energy (DOE), Corporate and Plant rules, regulations, Labor Agreements and Plant-wide operating policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Required to attend and/or successfully complete training classes as determined by the Training and Development Technologies Department, through General Employee Training (Reference DOE Order 426.2), and Management. Participates in worker involvement including input to work planning and methods to identify hazards and controls. Understands a worker’s right to stop work when they feel their own or other’s personal safety is jeopardized. Attends all required safety meetings and training. Offers suggestions on improvements to the work environment. Skills And Minimum Qualifications Must be able to perform all duties and functions outlined above. Must meet initial employment requirements. Must be able to read, write, and comprehend applicable written and/or oral instructions. Must be physically fit to perform the above job functions as determined by Medical Evaluation. Must have successfully completed a four (4) year Pantex approved Apprenticeship which provides experience directly related to the work currently performed by the Carpenter Shop, and have a journeyman carpenter certification. Must have a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator's License. All qualifications, work history, training, and education are to be verified by direct contact with former employers and/or documented proof. Ability to perform the functions and responsibilities involved will be determined by a comprehensive interview and background evaluation. Education High School diploma or General Equivalency Development (GED) In addition to the above requirements, the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (High School diploma, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Air hammers (EXCEPT – Instrument) Excessive heat Excessive cold/chilling Environmental dust (silica) Asbestos (Pipefitter and Boilermaker – only) Fumes, smoke, gasses Grease and oils Motor fuels (Garage – only) Solvents and degreasing agents Radiation exposure (plutonium, tritium, uranium) Strong acids and bases (Machinist, Pipefitter, Electrician-only) Works out of doors Ladders or scaffolding Around moving vehicles Confined spaces Prolonged or irregular hours Shift work – specify – Swing / Graves Machinery with exposed moving parts Vibrations Isolated work assignments Notes Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required. Requires Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification. If the successful candidate is not currently certified in the HRP, the certification process will be initiated upon assumption of the position. If the successful candidate is currently certified in the HRP, a review for HRP certification in the appropriate category will be performed by the hiring manager and the HRP Management Official, and the certification process in the appropriate category will be initiated upon assumption of the position Pantex is a drug-free workplace.
