Benefits Accounting Manager

Addison Group is partnering with a multibillion-dollar, publicly traded industry leader to identify a Benefits Accounting Manager to join their accounting team. This role will lead the accounting and reporting activities related to employee benefit plans, including pension, health & welfare, deferred compensation, and other employee benefit programs. The position offers the opportunity to lead a team, work cross-functionally with multiple finance groups, and play a key role in a highly visible area of the accounting organization. Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 3 days in office) Key Responsibilities: Oversee accounting for pension, health & welfare, deferred compensation, and other employee benefit plans Manage preparation of benefit plan financial statements and Form 5500 filings Oversee tax filings related to employee benefit plans Support external reporting and disclosure requirements related to pension and OPEB plans Partner with actuarial consultants, treasury, finance, and investment teams on pension and OPEB valuations, forecasting, and accounting matters Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals Coordinate with internal and external auditors and key business stakeholders Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field 7+ years of progressive accounting experience Current or prior management experience required Strong pension accounting experience required Experience leading and developing staff CPA preferred but not required Why This Role: Leadership role with direct people management responsibilities Exposure to a wide range of complex accounting and reporting matters Opportunity to partner with senior finance leadership and cross-functional teams Stable organization with a strong track record of employee retention and career growth Collaborative, team-oriented culture with opportunities for advancement 20% annual bonus opportunity Hybrid work environment Potential sign-on assistance for exceptional candidates #J-18808-Ljbffr Addison Group
