Role Description The Managing Attorney is a full-time, on-site role based in Muskegon, MI, responsible for leading legal strategy and overseeing the daily operations of the firm’s family law practice. This role includes managing a caseload involving divorce, custody, support, and related matters through litigation, mediation, and collaborative processes. The Managing Attorney will supervise and mentor other legal staff, delegate work, and ensure high-quality client service and compliance with professional and ethical standards. Day-to-day tasks include meeting with clients, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and agreements, appearing in court, facilitating negotiations, and coordinating with external professionals as needed. The role also involves contributing to firm growth, improving internal processes, and supporting a collaborative, values-driven workplace culture. Qualifications Licensed attorney in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan, with substantial experience in family law and courtroom practice. Demonstrated skills in legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, negotiating settlements, and managing complex family law cases. Experience leading or supervising legal teams, including mentoring attorneys and staff, managing workflows, and overseeing case strategy. Strong client-facing skills, including clear communication, empathy, conflict resolution, and the ability to manage emotionally charged situations. Familiarity with mediation and collaborative law processes, and willingness to use problem-solving approaches tailored to client needs. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with capacity to prioritize multiple matters and meet deadlines. Commitment to ethical practice, professional integrity, and maintaining confidentiality in all client and firm matters. Comfort with basic law office technology (case management, document management, and communication tools); openness to improving systems and procedures. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; prior experience as a senior or managing attorney in a family law setting is strongly preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
