Deputy Director of Alumni Relations

Job Description Position Under the supervision of the Director of Institutional Advancement, the Deputy Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for providing leadership and strategic support for alumni engagement programs, communications, and events. This role supports the Institute’s mission by fostering lifelong relationships with alumni, enhancing alumni involvement in the life of NMMI, and strengthening alumni support for institutional priorities. The Deputy Director will directly oversee alumni communications, special events, and regional engagement initiatives, while mentoring staff and working collaboratively with colleagues across the Office of Institutional Advancement. Evening and weekend work, as well as regional and national travel, may be required. This is an exempt 12-month, full‑time position with a salary ranging from $65,000.00 to $70,000.00. The job description is available upon request. Tasks Develop, implement, and evaluate alumni programs that strengthen engagement across generations and geographic regions. Work closely with alumni chapters, reunion classes, and affinity groups to expand alumni involvement. Provide strategic direction and oversight for alumni events such as Homecoming, Trail Ride, regional Meet & Greets, and special recognition ceremonies. Ensure event planning, execution, and post-event reporting (AARs) are conducted with efficiency and consistency. Other duties as assigned. Essential Skills Knowledge of alumni relations best practices, event planning, volunteer engagement, and class representative models. Knowledge of higher education fundraising principles and the role of alumni relations in advancement. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, RENXT, and other CRM/alumni database platforms. Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to convey institutional messages to diverse audiences. Ability to plan, execute, and evaluate multiple projects simultaneously. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in alumni relations, advancement, event planning, or related fields. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record. Preferred Master’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, fundraising, or related field. Prior experience in alumni relations or advancement at an educational institution. Familiarity with marketing, digital communication tools, or data analytics. Bilingual (Spanish/English). The high school curriculum is fully accredited, preparing students for higher education. The junior college program facilitates cadet transfer to four‑year colleges and universities. Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate Preparatory Academy (IPA) for grades 6-8.
