Job Title

Medical Surgical Registered Nurse – Days (3S Geriatrics)

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Every Other Weekend and Holiday Requirement

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized plans of care through patient and family interviews, health record review, and identification of cultural, religious, physical, and psychosocial needs, including discharge planning.
• Administer therapeutic measures as prescribed, including medications, IV therapy affecting hemodynamic status, respiratory therapy, and mechanical ventilation support.
• Initiate appropriate emergency interventions, including resuscitative measures, when a physician is not immediately available.
• Plan, provide, and document patient and family education on preventative, curative, and rehabilitative measures, accounting for learning needs, styles, barriers, and readiness.
• Record observations, nursing interventions, therapeutic measures, and coordinated activities; evaluate and update the plan of care based on patient response and progress toward outcomes.
• Provide oversight, delegation, and technical guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and unlicensed personnel; assume supervisory responsibility for assigned or delegated patient care tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New York State.
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience.
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work every other weekend and assigned holidays.
• Willingness to float to other Medical Surgical units as needed.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a geriatric or Med Surg Geriatrics unit.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to serve as a positive role model for nursing staff.
