General Laborer (Skilled Construction / Data Center Project)

Job Overview

We are hiring General Laborers to support a large, long-term data center construction project. This is a hands-on role working outdoors on an active job site, assisting with material handling, basic construction, and installation tasks. This position is ideal for candidates with construction experience who are reliable and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: Up to $25/hr for general laborers, up to $30/hr for more experienced construction candidates

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas across the construction site
• Move tools, materials, and equipment to designated workstations
• Assist with general construction tasks, including basic assembly and installation
• Support electrical work by assisting with wiring, switches, lighting fixtures, and related components under supervision
• Use hand tools and power tools for cutting, measuring, drilling, and fastening
• Read and apply measurements using a tape measure and basic drawings
• Help unload and stage materials such as rebar, piping, and metal components
• Assist with building and preparing materials for installation on data center structures
• Support carpentry, mechanical, and landscaping tasks as needed
• Perform general site cleanup, including debris removal and organizing materials
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years of construction or outdoor labor experience preferred
• Experience using basic hand tools (drills, saws, tape measures, etc.)
• Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, carrying, and standing for long periods
• Ability to read a tape measure and follow basic drawings/specifications
• Experience assisting with electrical installations is a plus
• Comfortable working around construction equipment and materials
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

Additional Requirements

• Must have own basic hand tools
• OSHA 10 certification required (can be completed within 7 days of starting; receipt accepted to begin work)
• Must be comfortable working outdoors full-time
• Mechanical or hands-on construction experience is a plus

Work Environment

• Active construction site (primarily outdoors)
• Physically demanding role involving lifting, walking, and working on uneven terrain
• Exposure to construction equipment, materials, and varying weather conditions
• Standard construction hours with potential for overtime

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montgomery, AL.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
