Position Summary Rate: $22.00. The Cook I prepares and plates food cost‑effectively, exceeding guests’ expectations. Responsible for sauces, soups, hot entrees, garnish, portioning, plating and ensuring food quality and safety. Responsibilities Prepare and properly garnish all food orders per menu specifications under chef’s guidance. Prepare sauces, soups, hot entrees, and use recipes accurately. Use high‑quality ingredients, measure accurately, and taste test to meet standards. Portion food and garnish attractively; present using proper plate presentation techniques. Coordinate menu item completion with servers and set up for meals based on forecasts, reservations, and special events. Control food cost, waste, loss and usage per SOP; requisition food with approvals. Maintain clean, organized work areas, coolers, storage, and kitchen equipment. Date and rotate food per SOP, return unused items to storage, and keep floor clear of hazards. Serve safe, appealing food; follow facility’s food‑handling guidelines. Follow cleaning schedules and sanitization procedures. Deliver 100% guest satisfaction, demonstrating genuine hospitality and teamwork. Assist with other duties as required by management to maintain guest satisfaction. Requirements / Skills High school diploma or GED required; culinary degree preferred. 1 year cooking experience preferred; experience at a similar size/quality hotel recommended. Ability to read, speak, and understand cooking directions. Follow standardized recipes and plate presentation. Knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations, etiquette, table settings, and service ware. Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; effective communication with managers, teammates, and guests. Team spirit and flexibility in working hours. Ability to follow prep list and maintain organization. Physical Demands Stand for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs regularly, push or pull up to 100 lbs. Move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, bending) for extended periods. Manual dexterity, hand‑eye coordination, and ability to work with hands above shoulders. Tolerate exposure to heat, cold, chemicals, and a loud/noisy environment. Work under variable temperature conditions and multi‑task. Other Information The hotel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All associates must be prepared to adapt shifts and duties as business requires.
