Oral Surgery - Assistant and Scribe

ORAL SURGERY SURGICAL ASSISTANT & FRONT DESK & SCRIBE (part-time 25 hours/week) Procedures include extractions, dental implants, wisdom teeth removals, and biopsies performed under both local and general anesthesia. About Our Oral Surgery Practice This is a high‑end fee‑for‑service practice with one oral surgeon, three surgical staff members, and three front‑desk staff. The office has been serving patients for 35 years and focuses on providing an outstanding, personalized experience. Patient demographics include highly educated individuals, many of whom are healthcare professionals or international patients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Oral Surgeon during procedures including extractions, implants, bone grafting, biopsies, and other surgeries under local or general anesthesia. Provide post‑surgery care and discharge of patients. Document patient consultations, procedures—including anesthesia records—and follow‑up visits in the electronic medical record (EMR). Take digital x‑rays, including panoramic and CBCT scans (eligible after license is secured). Sterilize and package instruments. Set up surgical rooms for patients and upcoming surgeries. Train for emergency readiness with the entire team on a routine basis. Use the EMR software to input patients’ notes, anesthesia records, treatment plans, and tracking. Prepare for the next day's appointments, selecting materials, and verifying that any referrals and x‑rays are ready. Order, stock, organize, and maintain surgical and implant supplies. Achieve and maintain certifications: BLS for Healthcare Providers, Dental Radiation Safety, DAANCE, and OSHA (training and exam costs covered by the office). Assist front‑office staff as needed; cross‑training is expected. Language Excellent customer‑service skills and fluent English are essential; many patients are non‑native speakers. Experience Two years of medical or dental office experience preferred; training will be provided for the right candidate. Job Type Part‑time Oral Surgery Assistant Pay $20–$33 per hour, depending on experience. Benefits Profit‑sharing pension plan (after entry period). Discounts on oral surgery services. Bonuses. Schedule Office hours: 8:30 a.m. (sometimes sooner) – 4:30 p.m. (sometimes later), Monday–Friday. The position is for 25 hours per week (8:30–1:30 a.m., Monday–Friday); a later start time may also be available. No weekends, holidays, or evenings. Location Our office is located across from the former White Flint Mall, with parking available both outside and in the building.
