Location: The ICE facility in Jena, LA, officially known as the LaSalle ICE Processing Center, primarily serves as a detention facility for individuals undergoing immigration proceedings. Located in rural Louisiana, the facility emphasizes security and housing for detainees, offering legal and visitation services to support those in the immigration process. Visitors can expect to see the operations of a secure detention center, which focuses on detainee care, legal access, and facilitating interactions with attorneys and family members through visitation services. The facility also provides healthcare, recreation, and daily living essentials to the individuals in its care.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• The psychiatric app functions within the scope of his or her specialty under the clinical oversight of the chief of psychiatry, the clinical director (or designee), a designated consulting psychiatrist, and in accordance with a completed IHSC scope of practice agreement.
• Shall operate under well-accepted practices and principles of psychiatric and medical care providers and follow IHSC scope of practice and as outlined in IHSC policy.
• Shall work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Will coordinate mental health patient care, off-site referrals, and collaborative duties through scheduled appointments, sick calls, or walk-ins.
• Shall diagnose and treat acute and chronic psychiatric disorders. This includes providing counseling, support, and prescribing various medications in accordance with the approved IHSC scope of practice.
• Shall order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to the detainee's psychiatric needs.
• Shall utilize evidence-based tools and identification of risks associated with medication-induced movement disorders.
• Will provide telepsychiatry services for patients at other IHSC facilities as needed and as the local facility allows, only in the states the provider is licensed.
• Adheres to IHSC's safety, prevention, infection and control, quality improvement, patient education, and other programs and collateral duties as appropriate to the position.

Requirements:

• Education and experience: must be a graduate of an accredited psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner or physician assistant program located in the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
• Must have a minimum of one year of clinical provider experience in direct patient care.
• Certification:
  • PMHNP board certification requirements: must maintain current board certification as APMHMP by the American Nurse Credentialing Center.
  • Physician assistant Certification requirements: shall maintain current certification of National Commission on certification of physician Assistants.
• Must maintain an unrestricted license with the Drug Enforcement Agency and in the state in which the duty station is located.
• Shall maintain BLS certification for health care providers through the American Heart Association.
