Registered Nurse - Float (Med-Surg/Emergency Department)

Job Summary

Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Float Registered Nurse at a Critical Access Hospital located in Kapaau, North Kohala, Hawaii. This dynamic role involves providing comprehensive nursing care across both Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department units, adapting to fluctuating patient needs and unit demands.

The ideal candidate will be a highly adaptable and skilled RN capable of delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in diverse clinical settings. This position is crucial for maintaining seamless patient flow and ensuring optimal outcomes in a critical access environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, for patients in both Med-Surg and Emergency Department settings.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
• Monitor patient vital signs, interpret diagnostic data, and report changes in patient condition to the healthcare team.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Document all patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic medical record system.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide critical care interventions as needed, maintaining a calm and efficient approach.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, adhering to infection control and safety policies.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• Strong proficiency and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), specifically EPIC.
• Ability to float between Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department units.
