PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled Automation Controls Technician to help design, build, test, and optimize the next generation of custom automation equipment. You'll work hands-on with robotics, laser systems, intelligent controls, automated packaging solutions, and advanced material handling technologies that are transforming modern manufacturing.

What You'll Do

As an Automation Controls Technician, you'll be instrumental in bringing sophisticated automation systems from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and assemble complex custom automation equipment from engineering drawings and technical specifications

• Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and fellow technicians to transform innovative concepts into fully operational systems

• Install and integrate mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components

• Wire machinery, connect control systems, and support equipment startup activities

• Test, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize equipment to ensure peak performance and reliability

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, SolidWorks models, and engineering documentation

• Operate lathes, mills, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools to create or modify components

• Verify dimensions, tolerances, and overall product quality

• Work with automation technologies including sensors, motors, VFDs, motion-control systems, and industrial controls

• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment while supporting project deadlines

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, machine building, maintenance, mechanical assembly, machining, or a related technical field

• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and building equipment

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions

• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and manufacturing equipment

• Familiarity with automation technologies such as sensors, drives, motors, and motion-control components

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related discipline

• Experience with machining, fabrication, welding, or custom equipment builds

• Exposure to PLCs, robotics, industrial automation, or controls programming

• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems

• Practical mechanical experience gained through automotive work, heavy equipment repair, fabrication, farming, or personal projects

Pay Details: $35.00 to $45.00 per hour
