Security Specialist

Summary The Security Specialist oversees all aspects of Security support for one or more specific customers, contracts, or government agencies. Utilizing the U.S. Office of Personnel Management National Background Investigations Bureaus Electronic Questionnaires for Investigations Processing (E-QIP) system to grant access for applicants to submit security forms and process applicants through the security process. E-QIP is a web-based automated system that was designed to facilitate the processing of standard investigative forms used when conducting background investigations for Federal security, suitability, fitness, and credentialing purposes. E-QIP allows users to electronically enter, update and transmit their personal investigative data over a secure internet connection to a requesting agency. This role will manage the workflow process for the completion of all E-QIP formalized documentation. Duties and Functions Ensure the tasks listed here are necessary or a requirement to perform the job. Determine the frequency at which the task is performed or how much time is spent performing a task to help determine if truly essential. Security Processing Provides required Background Information (BI) forms, instructional material, and related documents to each candidate within 24 hours of assignment. Provides instructional material on the Electronic Questionnaire for Investigation Processing (eQIP) and Fingerprint submission to each candidate within 7 days of the candidate’s submission of completed BI forms. Proactively monitors progress and completion of BI forms, eQIP, Fingerprints, and related forms as required by the specific contract/customer. Reviews BI and related forms for accuracy and compliance, and forwards completed forms to the Team Lead for quality control and submission. Records candidate progress throughout the Security process through timely and accurate data entry in multiple electronic trackers and the ATS (Bullhorn). Coordinates with each candidate’s Recruiter and assigned Credentialing Specialist to ensure shared visibility and understanding of the candidate’s status, and to enhance the candidate’s experience. Candidate Engagement Actively and regularly engages with each assigned candidate in order to build trust, improve communication, and reduce processing delays. Encourages and motivates candidates to complete BI forms within 72 hours of receipt. Encourages and motivates candidates to complete eQIP within 7 days of receipt. Actively assists candidates throughout the process by offering assistance, answering questions, and/or scheduling telephonic or video call assistance sessions. Conducts retention and engagement with each candidate via phone, email, and text not less than weekly from initial assignment through completion of the Security process. Notifies the Team Lead of any candidate issues or conditions which might impact employability, such as voluntary disclosure of negative or derogatory information by a candidate, loss of contact (unresponsive candidate), etc. Performance Measurements Internal operating system tracking is current, and complete. All required records are up-to-date, accurate, and in compliance with company policy. Security functions are conducted in accordance with established Company policies, Federal law and policy, and agency or contractual requirements. Candidates complete required actions within timelines established by LSGS. Professional relations exist with assigned candidates. A positive image of the Company is projected. Candidates are treated professionally and well informed of the status of their Security processing. Good coordination and effective working relations exist with peers and partners in other departments. Works collaboratively and provides assistance as needed. The Team Lead is well informed of all candidates’ status and progress, and of any significant candidate issues. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent (Associates or higher degree in Business Management or Human Resources preferred). Preferred Requirements Familiarity with security requirements for Department of Defense and/or Department of Homeland Security contractors. Military or Federal Law Enforcement background preferred including Military Spouses. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) Communicates and works well with others in a team environment. Good customer service and public relations. Knowledge of related computer applications. Excellent phone skills. Able to work well independently and in a team environment. Attention to detail and solid organizational skills. Ability to comprehend and comply with detailed written or verbal instructions. Ability to apply common sense understanding, to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problems involving a few variables. Competent in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and MS Teams. Pay: $17/hr with an Associate's degree, $19/hr with a Bachelor's degree.
