Construction Manager, West Coast Region

About the Role As the Regional Construction Manager you will own and drive all aspects of project construction for Zipline’s ground infrastructure in the region. You will manage the full lifecycle from contractor evaluation and contracting to design review, site construction, and project oversight in partnership with our engineering, operations, and legal teams. Your role involves securing approvals, fostering stakeholder relationships, and aligning local partnerships with Zipline’s strategic goals. What You’ll Do Manage construction projects, site infrastructure installations, construction contractors, and real‑estate development projects, ensuring schedule and cost targets are met or exceeded. Develop and lead pre‑construction strategies to streamline entitlements and permits for ground infrastructure. Build and maintain strong relationships with City Managers, staff, City Council members, and inspectors to facilitate smooth approvals and permit completion. Collaborate closely with jurisdictions, land‑use counsel, and the Legal team to create pathways for drone delivery in evolving regulatory landscapes. Work with customer real‑estate teams to integrate Zipline systems into existing and newly designed infrastructure. Source and foster relationships with external stakeholders, including local jurisdictions, utilities, and contractors. Identify and mitigate risks associated with pre‑construction and construction phases. Engage with partners’ Real Estate and Government Affairs teams to ensure alignment on expectations and timelines. Source and manage general contractors and subcontractors across construction, assembly, electrical, and other trades during the bid, pre‑construction, construction, and site commissioning phases. What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Real Estate Development, Finance, Business Administration, Urban Planning, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field. 6+ years of experience in real estate development or construction. Proven ability to manage entitlements and permits for infrastructure projects in collaboration with customers’ Real Estate and Construction teams. Strong communication skills with the ability to align internal stakeholders on project requirements and provide leadership with regular updates on challenges, risks, and opportunities. 4+ years of experience working with external design teams (Architectural, Structural, Civil, MEP) on commercial real‑estate or construction projects. Familiarity with authority‑having‑jurisdiction processes to navigate permitting and inspection workflows. Experience with construction software such as Bluebeam, Procore, and similar tools. Ability to travel frequently (75%+), primarily within the West Coast region, to Zipline headquarters in California and other domestic states, with occasional international travel for expansion projects.
