The mission of the County Administrator is to provide leadership and guidance to the County organization in implementing the policies of the Board of Supervisors while maintaining and improving the effective operation and fiscal integrity of the County. The County Administrator's Office is responsible for several major functional areas including Budget, General County Administration, Personnel/Labor Relations, Purchasing and Risk Management.

Current issues and priorities facing the County that will require leadership from the County Administrator include:

• Provide Leadership to the team of department heads, which encourages leadership and development.

Siskiyou County has a general law form of government with a five-member Board of Supervisors elected for four year terms on an alternating basis.

The County's total spending budget of nearly $241 million reflects a staff of approximately 650 FTEs.

The Board of Supervisors appoints the County Administrator, County Counsel, and other non-elected Department heads. Appointed Department heads include Agricultural Commissioner, Chief Probation Officer, County Librarian, Director of Child Support Services, Director of Health and Human Service Agency, Director of Community Development Agency, Director of Public Works, and Public Defender. Elected County officials include the Assessor/Recorder, Auditor/Controller, County Clerk, District Attorney, Sheriff, and Treasurer-Tax Collector.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary: $254,492.41 annually, negotiable based on qualifications.

Retirement: CALPERS Retirement

2% @ 55 for classic members

2% @ 62 for new members

Deferred Compensation (457b): County contributes $3,600 annually.

Health & Dental Insurance: County pays a portion of premium costs for a comprehensive health and dental plan for employee and dependents; optional Flexible Medical and Childcare accounts available through Navia.

Leave Time: Vacation leave; additional time negotiable

12 sick leave days

12 holidays plus three floating holidays annually.

Vision Insurance: County paid plan.

Life/Disability Insurance: County paid life insurance equal to twice annual salary and short and long term disability programs.

Heads THESE BENEFITS DO NOT APPLY TO EXTRA HELP EMPLOYEES Holidays: 12 paid holidays (96 hours) per year, plus 3 floating holidays Vacation: 2 weeks per year during the first five years of service; 3 weeks a year - 5- 10 years of service; 4 weeks a year - 10 plus years of service; Note - accrued vacation leave may not be used until after six months of employment. Administrative Leave: 80 hours administrative leave annually. Sick Leave: Sick leave shall accrue from the date of initial employment at the rate of 3.7 hours per pay period (which is equivalent to 96 hours per years) for regular full-time employees with no maximum accrual. Unused sick leave may be converted to PERS service credit upon retirement. Health Plan: See resolution for plan year. Dental Plan: See resolution for plan year. Vision Plan: The County will contribute 100% of the vision premium. Life Insurance: The County will provide employees with term life insurance in an amount equal to two times the gross annual salary. Retirement: The County is in the Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) coordinated with Social Security.

Member contribution: Employee member contribution shall be 3.5% for classic members hired before November 2, 2012. For employees hired after November 2, 2012, who are not classified as new members will contribute 3.5%. For employees hired after December 31, 2012, the member contribution will will be one half of the total normal cost as determined annually by CalPERS. Employee contributions shall be on a pre-tax basis. Deferred Compensation: The County will contribute $200.00 per pay period to the employee's designated deferred compensation plan. Miscellaneous: IRC Section 125 plan available for pre-tax payroll deductions for contributions towards un-reimbursed medical expenses and dependent care.
