Requirements

• Must have completed a program of education in nursing from an NLN approved institution.
• BSN preferred; Master's degree in nursing or healthcare/business administration-related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years experience in the operating room.
• Minimum of 2 years of surgical services management experience.
• Must be licensed in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Certified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) preferred; must attain certification within 6 months.
• Knowledge of AORN Guidelines and Perioperative Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, Cerner preferred.
• Knowledge of budgets, reimbursements, coding, claims processing, and fiscal management is desired.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, organize, and direct the operations and staff of the Surgical Services Department.
• Evaluate delivery of patient care promoting safety and well-being.
• Coordinate scheduling of visiting specialists and maintain a workable schedule in the operating room.
• Manage fiscal, material, and human resources as well as other administrative duties as assigned.
• Participate in developing and implementing departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
• Enforce standards for quality and safe patient care, developing systems that improve safety and staff quality.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain open communication with staff to foster a Culture of Safety.
