Your role will be: Welds metal parts together, using gas welding and any combination of arc welding processes. Performs related tasks, such as thermal cutting and grinding. Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts. Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. May locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch. May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations. Assembly and welding of laid-out components. Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding. Sets up equipment and welds parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment. Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts. If this is you, come join us! Proven experience as a welder/fitter: 5-10 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. D1 certification or related certifications preferred. Ability to work with mathematical concepts: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization occurs. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Previous experience in heavy manufacturing. Ability to read blueprints. High School/GED required. One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
