Diet Clerk

The Diet Clerk is at the forefront of customer service, providing Orlando Health patients and guests with service above and beyond expectations to ensure a memorable food and dining experience. Responsibilities include providing food service to patients as assigned by Team Leader, monitoring patient diet prescription, diet order changes, nourishment orders, late tray requests and quality standards. The Diet Clerk accurately checks patient meal choices according to physician diet orders, adheres to patient's food allergies, intolerance's and food preferences in a timely fashion, and is knowledgeable of nutritional meal patterns and able to modify diets accordingly. The Diet Clerk is responsible for operation of the hospital's computer systems and understands operation of the fax machine. They communicate proper information regarding patients to the Food & Nutrition Leadership team, Clinical Nutrition team, Nursing, food service peers or ancillary team members as needed. The Diet Clerk interacts cooperatively and constructively with patients, staff and guests communicating in an open, honest, gracious and compassionate manner at all times, including person to person, telephone and written forms. They promote a positive impression of the Food and Nutrition department, perform as a team member with peers, and interact appropriately with a culturally diverse population. The Diet Clerk follows chain of command when communicating departmental and individual concerns or problems, models essential service behaviors, such as excellent communication and customer service skills with patients, nursing staff, team members and visitors, maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, and maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
