Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychomotor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Will evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge and revise plan or make referrals as necessary. Acts as a role model and mentor to a variety of students and nurses new to the unit. Functions as a (PCC) Patient Care Coordinator as requested by the supervisor/manager.Required QualificationsWhat It Takes to be SuccessfulMinimum of 2 years recent inpatient clinical nursing experience in adult acute care or completion of 6 month UC Irvine Medical Center Clinical Nurse I orientation or new graduate RN residency didactic seriesMinimum of 1 year telemetry experience or successful completion of EKG classIf applicable, internal UCI candidate with 2+ years of UC service and possession of ADN with current enrollment in an accredited BSN program, with anticipated completion within 2 yearsAll external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in NursingAbility to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidaysAbility to read, write and communicate effectively in EnglishAbility to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environmentAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadPreferred QualificationsUnderstanding of applicable regulatory requirementsBilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and familiesLicenses And CertificationsRegistered NurseBasic Life SupportAdvanced Cardiac Life SupportEducationTotal RewardsWe offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding.
