The DME (Durable Medical Equipment) Coordinator assists with insurance and functions of the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) department.  This position is responsible for insurance benefit verification and prior authorizations.  The role assists customers in navigating the requirements associated with obtaining medical equipment and supplies. Strong customer service skills and attention to detail are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage requirements for DME products and supplies.
• Obtain and review physician orders and supporting documentation required for insurance reimbursement.
• Coordinate prior authorizations and documentation requests with physician offices.
• Educate customers regarding insurance coverage, copayments, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all documentation meets payer requirements.
• Answer and direct incoming telephone calls.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience in DME, physician office, or healthcare preferred.
• Knowledge and/or experience with insurance and prior authorizations
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
• Proficiency with computers and billing software systems.
• Dependable, professional, and team-oriented.
