Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.HDR has an excellent opportunity in the Georgia-Alabama/Mississippi Water Business Group for a professional to lead the growth, control, direction, and quality of the Area’s Pump Station and Pipelines Business Class. The Business Class Leader (BCL) is a professional that is well versed in all aspects of Business Class (BC) services for pump stations and pipeline projects and leads a group of business class professionals. Given the current backlog of conveyance work and upcoming opportunities for continued growth, we have an immediate need to fill this BC position.The duties of the Pump Station and Pipelines BCL are to plan, direct and oversee all aspects of large-scale multi-discipline and multi-benefit projects with a high degree of technical complexity. The position will build and maintain client relations and participate in project development and contract document preparation. The person will work with senior, mid- and junior-level staff across a variety of disciplines. The position will participate in and provide oversight of a variety of project types including planning, design, inspection and construction management of pump station and pipelines and general site civil of major water, wastewater and reclaimed water infrastructure.The position will coordinate projects with inter-related disciplines such as structural, geology, geotechnical, civil, mechanical, CADD and GIS. The position will also require coordination with HDR’s other regional and national business class technical leads and advisors. As a Business Class Lead, you will participate in the corporate management of the pump station and pipeline business class program. Work assignments may include technical and quality reviews of projects outside of your geographic area. Primary ResponsibilitiesThe primary duties of the Pump Station and Pipelines BCL include: responsibility for area coordination, monitoring and improvement of technical competencies of BC staff and products to meet client needs and market drivers all within the direction and goals of BC plans; participation in delivery of project services to meet client expectations; collaboration on BC efforts with area operations, market sector leadership, marketing and project management; participation in BC practice and professional discipline groups, project teams and activities to continually improve standards and best practices; implementation of effective quality assurance and quality control reviews; participation in regional and area BC strategic planning, budgeting and plan implementation; establishing internal and external training programs and training schedules; assist with business development efforts and provide support on proposal preparation; plan for project needs and recruit/hire staff accordingly, and drive the BC to meet project goals for growth, client satisfaction, and service diversification. The responsibilities are as follows:Provide leadership with technical capabilities within the Pump Station and Pipelines BCDelivery focus of technical skills, be consulted and provide input on project discipline requirements and manage/supervise BC StaffIntegrate national Pump Station and Pipeline BC initiatives into local area operations through coordination and communication with corporate BC DirectorMaintain appropriate QA/QC procedures and best practices Monitor area performance within BC to achieve defined goals and support operational managers in monitoring project performance and implementation of corrective actions. Responsible for the technical sector growth in the AreaSupport top line growth across all market sectors in their technical area of focusPrioritize BC activities across Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi to best implement Market Sector and Business Group objectives and promote technical services of their section in the AreaFacilitate BC teamwork, communication and work sharing between Area offices, business classes, market sectors, management, marketing, and staff.Serve as client manager, project principal and/or PM Actively participate in projects or manage projects to meet assigned utilization rate Serve as a senior technical resource on projects and programsBuild and retain strong relationships with Staff, Project Managers, Client Development Managers throughout the Area and within HDR in the SW Region Provide strategic and tactical input on business trends to BC and local office planning. Manage staff workloads and make recommendations for adjustments and recruiting as needed Manage training and licensing requirements and identify opportunities for continuing education Develop a technical mentoring and employee advancement process to advance staff Champion marketing opportunities to grow the practice Support Area pursuits and actively participate in and support proposal development Identify project needs and recruit professionals to join our HDR team Demonstrate “can-do” problem solver approach to colleagues and clients Ability to build positive client relationships, strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills, and the ability to manage and motivate direct reportsPerform other duties as neededKeywords: Area Pump Station and Pipelines Business Class Leader, pump station, pipeline, Preferred QualificationsProficient with MS Office Suite, specifically, Outlook, Word, Excel, Project and SharePoint or equivalent databaseMinimum of 7 years’ experience leading projects and teams with a focus on pump stations and pipelines.Proven ability to manage projects and teams effectively Experience managing budgets, preparing scopes and developing cost estimates Excellent written and strong communication and listening skillsStrong leadership and organizational, planning, and prioritization skills. Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines, as well as balance multiple projects by prioritizing effectively. Ability to understand applicable industry standards, laws, policies and procedures that each project is governed by. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills Proven ability of contract development and implementation of capital improvements.
