Provides exemplary emergency medical services with care and compassion by performing theses duties personally enabling UVES to become the premier emergency service organization providing revolutionary care and exceptional service.Position Responsibilities:Provide direct patient care while operating from an ambulance, first response vehicle, field hospital or other designated unitBe responsible for and assist with the proper care and treatment of all sick and injured persons found within the organizations designated response area as well as in any mutual aid districtTreat and transport, or assist with the treatment and transport of all patients in accordance with current organizational, regional and state standards as outlined in their current manuals or protocol books which shall include but not be limited to:Assessing the nature and extent of illness and injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed or the need to request additional assistanceAdministers initial treatment at an emergency scene:Takes and records a patient's vitals signsPerforms CPRPerforms other skills within the scope of practice as neededAssists in extricating trapped victimsAssists advanced life support providers procedures as authorized by the medical director including but not limited to: Cardiac monitoring and defibrillationIntravenous therapyMedication administrationMaintenance of Endotracheal intubation and other airway skillsTransports sick and injured persons to appropriate treatment centersObserves, records and reports to the receiving physician the patient's condition and reaction to treatment as well as significant incidents related to the patient's careCommunicates with the hospital, physician, and other medical personnel either in person, by telephone, or radioOperates the ambulance with due diligence to the scene and/or hospitalPrepares required reports and completes other shift paperwork as assignedEnsures all vehicles are properly stocked and in organizational readiness at all times by performing daily vehicle and equipment checksFunction as trainer or preceptor as necessaryPerform or assist with promotional or public relations activities as neededRequisitions and restocks supplies, materials and equipmentPerforms other jobs and related duties as assigned/directedQualifications:Experience/EducationHigh school graduate or GED (required), Associates Degree desiredNYS Certified EMT or AEMT requiredNational Registry of EMT or AEMT Certification desiredCurrent Drivers License requiredOne year patient care experience as an certified EMT or higherAmerican Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS or equivalent certificationsClassification: Full Time- Non-Exempt Starting Pay DOQ/DOE: Base annual salary calculated on 76 hours regular and 8 hours overtime bi-weekly (2,184 hrs/yr)
