May design embedded systems software.Newport News Shipbuilding’s Information Technology team is seeking an experienced Manager 2, IT Software Engineering to lead technology teams supporting critical business and engineering functions.This role combines technical leadership, business acumen, cybersecurity awareness, and people leadership to deliver reliable technology solutions supporting Newport News Shipbuilding and its U.S. Navy customers.Key Responsibilities• Lead multiple software, systems, and test engineering teams in delivering technology solutions from design through implementation and sustainment.• Provide leadership for key NNS applications, including SharePoint Online, SAP Finance, and NNS Access Control, ensuring solutions meet business, operational, cybersecurity, and customer requirements.• Drive Agile/SAFe, DevOps, and continuous-improvement practices to improve productivity, predictability, quality, and delivery.• Hire, coach, develop, and mentor employees while managing team operations, performance, and accountability.• Lead cross-functional and matrixed teams, including Business, Infrastructure, Configuration Management, Information Assurance, and business partners, to achieve organizational goals.• Build strong relationships across the organization, communicate effectively with senior leadership and technical teams, remove barriers, and align technology initiatives with strategic priorities.Must HaveBachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; Master?s Degree and 4 years of relevant experienceOne of the following may be used as an equivalent to Bachelor's Degree for Information Technology Related Positions Only:NNS Apprentice School graduateNavy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduateAssociate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experienceMilitary Paygrade E-5 or above military experienceHigh School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experienceHigh School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experienceA relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree.
