Manager of MDM (Master Data Management)

Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Manager of Master Data Management (MDM) for a leading insurance client. This individual will play a critical role in building and establishing the company’s MDM function from the ground up, including governance frameworks, data structures, and processes. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, capable of identifying data quality issues, improving data flow, and partnering with IT to implement scalable solutions. This role offers high visibility across the organization and is best suited for someone who thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments and enjoys solving complex data challenges at an enterprise level. Duties & Responsibilities Include:

• Build and implement MDM governance structure and processes from the ground up
• Oversee master data across the organization, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and usability
• Analyze and troubleshoot data quality issues (what’s wrong with current data and why)
• Write and execute SQL queries to validate and audit data
• Partner with IT teams to restructure data intake and improve data flow and architecture
• Lead and provide guidance/oversight to MDM/mapping resources
• Support implementation of a new Enterprise Data Management (EDM) program
• Work through data mapping, approvals, and governance workflows
• Collaborate across departments to align data standards and business processes
• Operate in a hands-on, evolving environment with high visibility and impact

• 10–15 years of experience within Master Data Management (MDM), data governance, or data architecture
• Strong technical understanding of data structures, data flow, and data quality issues (“why data is bad” mindset)
• Advanced experience writing SQL queries
• Experience working in enterprise environments (1000+ employees) with complex data ecosystems
• Ability to build MDM governance frameworks from scratch
• Experience managing end-to-end MDM processes, including mapping, approvals, and data standards
• At least 1+ year of people management or team oversight experience
• Strong experience working with IT teams on data discrepancies, transformations, and architecture • Insurance industry experience (borderline required/strongly preferred)
• Experience implementing or working with Oracle MDM or similar platforms
• Experience standing up data steward functions or governance councils
• Background in data transformation or enterprise data programs
• Prior experience in Shared Services environments Insight Global
