Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/21/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Opportunity – Cardiovascular Progressive Care RN – North CarolinaStart Date: September 21, 2026 Location: Western North Carolina Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants Schedule: 13-week assignment; minimum 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday) per 6-week schedule period; flexibility to work holidays requiredHighlights: - 40-bed cardiovascular and vascular surgery stepdown unit serving post-operative cardiac surgery, thoracic, and vascular surgery patients- Patient ratio of 1:5 RN to patient on a fast-paced, high-acuity progressive care unit- Primary patient population includes open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR), thoracic procedures (lobectomy, thoracotomy), vascular surgeries (AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy), and overflow medical cardiology patients- Manage complex procedures including epidurals, chest tubes, tube feedings, IV glucommander, and cardiac drip management- Utilize Cerner EMR and modern equipment including Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps- Float opportunities to other stepdown (1:5 ratio), medical-surgical (1:6-7 ratio), or ER inpatient holding (1:6 ratio) unitsRequirements: - Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state eligibility- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required- Progressive care or stepdown experience required- Telemetry monitoring experience required- Recent cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery population experience strongly preferred (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass within the past year)- CVICU experience preferred- Proficiency with epidural management, chest tube care, cardiac drip management (phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, ketamine), and tube feedingsWhy It's a Great Opportunity: This position offers the chance to work with a diverse and complex cardiovascular patient population in a supportive team environment.
