Unit Coordinator - Full Time - Skilled Nursing Facility

Unit Coordinator*** Full Time - 8 hour days ***The Unit Coordinator provides routine clerical support, answers phones, routes callers and relays messages. The Unit Coordinator manages all departmental documents and ensures availability of supplies and the maintenance of equipment. The Unit Coordinator supports the efforts of the clinical department through the management of patient medical records to include preparation and filing. The Unit Coordinator transcribes physician orders where appropriate and ensures all disciplines are notified. The Unit Coordinator utilizes current EMR System for order entry.Knowledge of or experience with Medical Terminology.Highly effective written and verbal communications skills.Proficient computer skills as are required to document, communicate and enter information into the electronic medical records system.Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.Must be able to work in a fast paced, stressful environment and take appropriate action.In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in EnglishCurrent CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start dateWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, and talk or hear.The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfer patients.The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Routine Hospital/Healthcare & Office/Administrative conditions.Contact with patients and guests under a wide variety of circumstances.Regularly exposed to the risk of bloodborne diseases.Exposure to infections and contagious disease.Exposed to hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and waste.Subject to hazards of flammable and explosive gases.Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, including the handling of emergency or crisis situations.Subject to pressure due to frequent interruptions and stressful situations due to multiple demands.Provides consistently exceptional care at all times.Answers phones, routes callers, takes messages and provides routine information to callers.Utilizes Fax/Copy machine and routes received forms to appropriate personnelAnswers calls for assistance from residents and inquiries concerning residents from medical staff and familiesCommunicates effectively and thoroughly with staff, other departments, residents and visitors. Performs routine clerical duties, prepares and manages resident medical record, supports staff in provision of care.Accurately inputs all physician orders into current EMR. This includes admission information, billing, demographics, monthly recap, etc.Updates and maintains all facility forms, ensuring copies are available at all times.Orders, distributes, and maintains office and medical supplies for the SNF.Completes monthly and quarterly audits as assigned.Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
