Williamsburg, Virginia Pay From: $20 per hour

MUST:

• Experienced Medical Assistant 1 plus year of experience as a Medical Assistant
• Must be certified, registered as a Medical Assistant or willing to obtain
• Must have experience in OB/GYN
• Must have experience handling patient triaging
• Must have experience with EMR; knowledge of Athena is preferred
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with Phlebotomy is preferred

DUTIES:

• Medical Assistant will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
• Answer all incoming calls
• Triage need of patient
• Make appointments when appropriate
• Listen to what the patient says, but also have the ability to interpret such subtle indications as the tone of voice, hesitations or incomplete responses
• Primary function is to be a liaison between physician and patient via electronic messaging
• Prepares and communicates messages to the physicians regarding patient requests for test results, and follow up care
• Prepares messages directly to physician for patient requests of prescription refills
• Explains and provides information to patients regarding any preparation a patient may need prior to testing
• Determine the patients need
• Record a patient's medical history accurately
• Take patient vitals
• Collect samples for lab testing
• Review patient's history to include medications, labs, diagnostic reports
• Room patients
• Assist with injections
• Set-up and break down rooms
