A day in the life

You clock in at our Franklin, IN facility and review the day’s build list. Blueprints and CAD models set the course. You select the right tooling and fixtures, set up a CNC mill in one bay and a lathe in the next, and verify zero points. First article in hand, you reach for micrometers, calipers, and the CMM report to confirm tolerances are dead-on. Between cycles, you tweak feeds and speeds to shave seconds without compromising surface finish. You record production data, flag any deviations, and work with engineering to dial in a more efficient process for tomorrow’s run. Before you wrap, you perform routine maintenance checks, tidy your work area, and confirm all safety protocols are in place.

What you’ll do

• Set up, operate, and monitor CNC mills, lathes, and grinders as well as manual machines to produce parts to exact specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to guide machining operations.
• Select and install appropriate tools, fixtures, and materials; adjust machine parameters as needed for optimal results.
• Inspect parts with precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM) to verify dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and promptly report mechanical concerns.
• Partner with engineering and production to refine processes, reduce cycle time, and increase throughput.
• Follow all safety procedures, maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
• Document production metrics including quantities, material usage, and any nonconformances.

What you bring

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in machining/manufacturing preferred.
• 1–3 years of machining experience in a production environment; CNC programming exposure is a plus.
• Proficiency with CNC and manual equipment and strong print-reading skills.
• Comfort with precision measurement and quality control practices.
• Basic understanding of G-code preferred.
• Solid problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a team-first mindset.
• Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive motions.
• Forklift certification or related certifications are advantageous.

Work environment

• Manufacturing setting with active machinery, moderate noise, and exposure to metalworking fluids.
