Accounting Technician 1The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services is recruiting for full-time Accounting Technician 1 located in Fairbanks, Alaska. What you will be doing As an Accounting Technician 1, you will support the travel and/or accounting section of the division. The successful candidate will be part of a team which coordinates and fiscally reconciles Divisional travel for staff and families which we serve, and/or the Regional Accounting Team which processes all other support activities including but not limited to payroll, inventory management and supplies. The Office of Children's Services requires staff to work overtime when deemed necessary. OCS Staff are considered essential and are expected to work during pandemic and other natural disasters. Principles of Accounting : Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (for example, double entry accounting, accrual accounting), including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets, financial statements, ledgers, and journals. Computer Skills : Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. Substitutions : Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience. Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
