Senior Project Manager (Environmental)

Company Overview Our client is a multidisciplinary engineering firm delivering geotechnical, environmental, and civil-site solutions for commercial and public-sector clients. Their team works on technically demanding projects involving deep excavations, retaining structures, foundation systems, subsurface investigations, and geotechnical instrumentation. Position Overview The Senior Project Manager will direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority over the planning, organization, control, and completion of environmental engineering projects. This role owns project scope, schedule, budget, and staffing, working collaboratively with the Principal and the client to solve client problems across every interaction. The ideal candidate is a senior environmental engineering professional with proven project management leadership, strong technical depth, and the business development instincts to strengthen existing client relationships and secure new work. Key Responsibilities Manage and perform site investigations, evaluating surface and subsurface conditions and providing recommendations Plan and implement engineering programs, defining project philosophy, activities, milestones, and staffing requirements per customer requirements Develop and maintain schedules and budgets for assigned engineering projects, controlling expenditures within budget limitations Report on project milestone status to the customer, project team, and management, adjusting schedules accordingly Identify project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting organization managers Coordinate preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, bid packages, and proposals Assign and oversee project personnel across technical studies, design, specifications, technical plans, and product testing Review design work for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, contract requirements, and related specifications Establish major design parameters for projects in conjunction with the design team and client Interface directly with customers to provide project status reports and ensure client needs are met Develop research plans, design experiments, outline research procedures, and provide training to subordinate personnel Perform and report interim analysis of accumulated data for safety monitoring purposes Train research assistants and graduate students, and provide technical expertise in the field of research Prepare proposal estimates of time and expenses required to complete projects Reinforce relationships with existing clients, develop new client relationships, and support the sales and marketing of company services Qualifications Required Qualifications Minimum 10–12 years of related engineering experience, including 8 years of project management experience 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to access job sites Proficiency or familiarity with engineering design software such as Quake, WEAP, L-Pile, and Finite Element Analysis tools Proficiency with AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, NitroPro, GSLOPE, KeyWall, Rocscience, MS Word, Excel, and Adobe Ability to work with mathematical concepts including probability, statistical inference, solid geometry, and trigonometry Supervisory capability with experience directing project personnel Willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time, which may include out-of-state assignments Ability to work outdoors approximately 10% of the time, walking on uneven terrain in all weather conditions Ability to frequently lift and/or move under 50 pounds Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in a related engineering field Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) license FE/EIT certification Previous construction industry experience Experience in business development, proposal preparation, and securing new client work Office and field-based role in Parsippany, NJ Approximately 10% travel, which may include out-of-state assignments Majority of work conducted in an office setting; approximately 10% outdoors, with PPE required in the field (work boots, safety glasses, hard hat, safety vest) Benefits: mileage reimbursement, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off, tuition reimbursement, professional development opportunities, and bonus potential We look forward to reviewing your application.
