Working Conditions

About the location – Peace Officer Selection and Employee Development – Office of Training and Professional Development – Correctional Training Center prepares cadets to become Correctional Officers by providing on-site institutional training.  The Correctional Training Center also provides training for current CDCR staff with a variety of specialized custody trainings to assist in strengthening their skills physically and mentally.

CONTENT REQUESTED : Please respond to the following prompts.

1. Describe a situation in which you were responsible for leading, instructing, mentoring, or developing others.  What was your approach, what challenges did you encounter, and what was the outcome?  Explain how this experience has prepared you to support staff assigned to the Academy and how it has prepared you for the role of an Academy Sergeant.
2. The CDCR Academy plays a critical role in preparing staff to perform their duties safely, professionally, and effectively.  Based on your training, instructional, and leadership experience, describe the knowledge, skills, and personal attributes you would bring to a Sergeant position at the Academy.  Explain how you would contribute to developing cadets, maintaining high training standards, and supporting the overall mission of the Academy.
