Direct Support Professional

Job Summary: As a Direct Care Support Worker, you will provide a key role in providing support and guidance to individuals who have developmental disabilities living in a residential setting. Your primary responsibility will be to assist residents in developing the skills and knowledge necessary to live independently and lead fulfilling lives. Working closely with a diverse group of residents, fostering a safe and inclusive environment that promotes personal growth and empowerment. This position includes morning, evenings, weekends and holidays. Starting pay: $16.50, additional differentials, incentives, and bonuses applicable for hourly rates above $16.50. Hours: Full-time; Flexible shifts including days, evening, weekends, and holidays. Provide assistance and training to residents in daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, and household chores. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for residents. Facilitate group activities and social events to encourage social interaction and community engagement. Support residents in developing and enhancing their independent living skills, such as budgeting, transportation, and job readiness. Monitor and document residents' progress and behaviors, reporting any concerns or incidents to the appropriate supervisor. Foster a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment that respects and values the diversity of residents and promotes their self-advocacy. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of care governing residential facilities. Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age. Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a residential setting is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport and effectively interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated understanding and respect for the rights and privacy of individuals in a residential setting. Ability to respond calmly and effectively in crisis situations, demonstrating problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Proficiency in basic documentation.
