Radiology TechnologistLocation: White Plains, New YorkEssential FunctionsUnderstands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and BehaviorsPrepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnairesAssumes responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed exams for quality, completeness for the type of test orderedAssists physicians during procedures as necessaryPerforms equipment Quality assurance and calibrations as needed, lets Sr. staff know when supplies are low and need to be ordered.Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department. Works on call, holiday, overtime and/or day, evening, and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the departmentMaintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or Senior staffProcesses images, or prints CD's if neededPerforms routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/ films, documents information on patients' in EPIC, hospital RIS and PACs digital x-ray systemNotifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floorsMay be assigned as an instructor or preceptorWill treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospitals behavioral standards.Introduces self, uses 2 patient identifiers, and explains the exam to the patient and/or family member.Knowledgeable and skillful in providing care and meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of different patient populations including neonate/ newborn pediatric/adolescent, adults, and geriatric groupsPerforms New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrationsPerforms other related duties as required, attends staff meetings and in-servicesDuties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospitalOn standby/ call for emergency department coveragePerforms all other related duties as assignedAware of department specific protocols and policies; such as Stroke Program / Code Gray, IV & Oral contrast, etc.QualificationsHigh School Required and Certificate allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program Required or Associate Degree allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program Preferred2 years of experience PreferredAssumes responsibilities for designated areas and/ or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed exams for quality, completeness for the type of test ordered (High proficiency)Assists physicians during procedures as necessary (Medium proficiency)Performs equipment Quality assurance and calibrations as needed, lets Sr. staff know when supplies are low and need to be ordered. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on year of birth.DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation.ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and or (CT) certified or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection upon hire requiredBLS Basic Life Support - American Heart Association within 90 Days Required andNew York State-Department of Health Radiology License Upon Hire Required or New York State-Department of Health Limited Permit Upon Hire RequiredNew York Stat-Department of Health IV certification within 6m within 180 Days RequiredRadiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before end of probationary period (6M).within 180 Days RequiredPassing advanced CT examination /certification (ARRT) within 1 year from date of hire within 1 Year RequiredWhite Plains Hospital Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
